Looking back over my records, I can determine that this trip to Canada has been some five years in the planning. The oldest file for the trip on my computer is dated 13th January 2010, an extract taken from a British Columbia promotional magazine, for a route trip around the Lakes & Mountains of British Columbia. Even though this sounds a long time ago, it is insignificant when compared to the time that my fellow traveller has been waiting.
Sunday mornings visits as a child to an auntie in her east London flat more than fifty years ago; toasting crumpets in front of a three bar electric fire and browsing the British Columbia Magazine first kindled a desire to go and see the stunning landscapes. This, coupled with a more recent wish to see the Calgary Stampede, and a major birthday this year put the planning into a higher gear.
For the past few weeks things have been getting more active. With two days to go packing started. But now we are ready to set off. Our bags are finally packed and ready to go in the car. Our cameras and lenses have been cleaned. Equipment and batteries are charged. Paperwork, passports and money have been checked, and double checked. And last minute shopping done as well.
Just before I attempt to get some sleep tonight I am taking one more look at flightradar24.com to see the progress of BA085 tonight, something that I have done more times than I care to admit.
