A few weeks ago, we decided to stop for lunch in Windsor on our way to the overnight hotel stay before the airport. I did not realise when making this decision that it is forty years since we last visited Windsor and stayed at the Harte and Garter Hotel opposite the castle. It was a Berni Inn at the time, and we were able to make use of a staff discount for a cheap weekend. It was an auspicious visit, as we are almost certain that it is the weekend we got engaged.
What is crystal clear in our memories however is that my fellow traveller suffered from feeling unwell, and missed the main course.
No trouble today at Sebastian’s a back street Italian restaurant pleasant if a little overpriced, but guess this is to be expected in Windsor.
We have visited Windsor a lot in the past 40 years and have seen the gradual changes. Saying that we still like to visit from time to time. Unfortunately missed a Christmas trip with Cannon last year.
